How the Phoenix Suns will Distribute Minutes

Devin Booker and Kevin Durant WILL be playing in the Suns’ first preseason game against the Pistons on Sunday, says coach Frank Vogel.

The stars and other key players will be playing very limited minutes, according to Vogel.

“It’ll really just to be to get our feet wet for some of our main guys,” Vogel said. “The younger guys will take us home in the second half and fourth score.”

Previewing the Action

Fans will get their first chance to watch this year’s Suns team, which features 13 newcomers (12 healthy for tonight), as well as a new coach in Vogel.

It is also the start of new Big 3 era in Phoenix Suns basketball as Bradley Beal joins Kevin Durant and Devin Booker on the court. The Suns also have a new starting center for the first time since 2018, as Jusuf Nurkić takes over for Deandre Ayton.

The Suns enter the preseason with some lingering questions, including who will be their fifth starter, how the ball will flow without a true point guard and how their defensive intensity will look under Vogel.

For the Pistons, they enter in a new era with former Suns’ coach Monty Williams at the helm. Pistons’ fans are hoping Williams can take them to new heights like he did with the Suns.

Detroit looks to take a huge step forward this season after getting 2021 No. 1 overall pick Cade Cunningham back healthy and drafting rookie Ausar Thompson fifth overall.

This season marks the start of something new for both teams, starting right at the top with their head coaches.
