Arizona State has gotten the best out of Colorado as they lead the all-time series 10-3 and have won the last two meetings against the Buffaloes after Colorado won three straight beforehand.

Last year, Arizona State got a win against Colorado by a final score of 42-34. ASU quarterback Trenton Bourguet got his first-ever win as a starter in that game as he threw for 435 yards and 3 touchdowns in the contest.

Since last year, Colorado has completely overhauled their team as new head coach and pro football hall-of-fame player Deion Sanders has Colorado playing competitive football to begin the season.

Colorado Buffaloes:

Colorado so far this season is sitting at 3-2 and they have been the talk of college football this season with a lot of attention going towards Sanders and his son starting quarterback Sheduer Sanders.

Sheduer has been a top-10 quarterback this season. So far he’s thrown for 1,781 yards (2nd in the nation), 15 touchdowns (T-4th in the nation), and just 2 interceptions. His completion percentage is at 74.8 percent on the season which is 6th in the nation in FBS play.

Colorado’s offense with him at the helm is averaging 34.2 PPG (40th in the Nation) and 440 total yards (35th in the nation) per game and their running game had a great game last week vs USC when they rushed for 193 yards on the ground.

One of the weaknesses that have been going on with Colorado as they played two high-power Pac-12 teams in Oregon and USC has been their defensive play and an ability to limit explosive plays in both the ground game and the passing game.

Colorado’s defense has given up 36.2 PPG which ranks 124th in the nation amongst FBS teams. The total yards they have given up per game sits at 480.2 which ranks 128th in the nation.

Both their pass defense (296 YPG) and rush defense (184.2 YPG) rank 114th and 124th in the nation as well which gives Arizona State some wiggle room to rack up yards in this game especially after an improvement offensively the last two weeks.

What’s hurt them has been injuries at the cornerback spot as Travis Hunter and Shilo Sanders have been battling injuries over the past two weeks forcing them to miss games.

Shilo is expected to make a return in today’s game but Hunter is expected to miss his third straight game due to injury. We shall see how Colrado’s defense matches up against Arizona State’s offense today.

Arizona State Sun Devils:

Arizona State so far this season is sitting at 1-4 after dropping 4 straight games since their opening weekend win against Southern Utah at home.

During this 4 game-losing streak, ASU has had 2 quarterbacks go down due to injury, offensive linemen go down due to injury, and even more key players go down due to injury like linebacker Tre Brown last weekend against Cal.

Another key thing that’s happened is head coach Kenny Dillingham has taken over playcalling duties since week 4 of the season and ASU has had a new spark in their offense happen because of it.

During the season ASU’s offense is averaging 17.6 PPG and in the last two weeks, they scored 28 and 21 points in the contest against USC and Cal.

ASU has had 4 different quarterbacks play this season and right now quarterback Trenton Bourguet is the quarterback for the foreseeable future due to injuries from Jaden Rashada and Drew Pyne this season.

Bourguet for the season has thrown for 391 yards and 2 interceptions in limited playing time. However, the passing game hasn’t been the strength of this team this season.

Running back Cameron Skattebo has been the team’s MVP in the first half of the season. He has an overall PFF grade of 76.2 which is just outside the top 10 amongst FBS running backs.

He has forced 29 missed tackles this season which is 8th amongst FBS running backs and his 36 overall missed tackles forced on offense is 7th amongst all FBS players.

He has also rushed for a first down or touchdown on 37.2 percent of his career carries which is third among all active FBS/FCS backs and has been stuffed for no gain or a loss on just 10.2 percent of his career carries, the fifth-lowest tally among all active backs.

The biggest challenge of the game is for the Arizona State defense as they have been playing inspiring football this season. Arizona State’s total defense ranks 53rd in the nation at giving up 348.2 yards per game.

Their passing defense ranks 3rd in the pac-12 and 50th in the nation as they have Jordan Clark, Ro Torrence, and Demetrius Ford create a formidable duo for Arizona State’s defense.

This Arizona State Player is a Game Time Decision vs. Colorado

Prediction For the Game:

Colorado 40 – Arizona State 34

I believe this will be a high-scoring game. Mainly due to Colorado not being great on the defensive end this season. I actually see ASU having their best outing on offense this season and limiting mistakes for the first time.

Unfortunately, I don’t see ASU slowing down Shedeur Sanders as I’m predicting he will have career-highs in passing touchdowns and passing yards in today’s game and give Colorado yet another good showing on TV.

I expect Bourguet to also have a good game passing the ball and Elijah Badger to have the best game of the season. I think it won’t be enough as defensively I expect ASU to struggle with Colordado’s potent offense.

Kick-off is set at 3:30 P.M. at Mountain America Stadium in front of another sell-out crowd.
