Patriots -2.5 vs Jets

The (0-2) New England Patriots are on the road against the (1-1) New York Jets. Last week the Patriots were defeated by the Miami Dolphins, 24-17. In that game the defense had to deal with the number three ranked offense in the NFL. Miami is averaging 30 points per game so far this season. The Dolphins have a plethora of weapons on offense that will make it hard for any defense to slow them down.

This week the Patriots are going against the New York Jets 27th ranked offense. Which is led by potential draft bust Zach Wilson. Wilson was the number two overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He did not play well at all in his first two seasons. The plan for this year was for him to be the back-up. Learn from future hall of fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Those plans were blown up after four plays when Rodgers tore his Achilles tendon.

Wilson has picked up right where he left off last season, being a bad quarterback. So far this season he has completed 54% of his passes for 310 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions. In his four career games against New England, Wilson has completed just under 51% of his passes while throwing two touchdowns and seven interceptions. There is no reason the trend will change this weekend.

The Jets have a very good defense that will keep this game close but Wilson will not be able to score enough points to win. Take the Patriots -2.5!

Jaguars -8.5 vs Texans

This week the (1-1) Jacksonville Jaguars are hosting the (0-2) Houston Texans. Last week, the Jaguars lost to the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs, 17-9. The Texans lost as well to the Indianapolis Colts, 31-20. Each team looking to rebound this week but the Jaguars are the heavy favorites. Jacksonville comes into the game with the 21st ranked offense and 10th ranked defense. Houston has the 28th ranked offense and 27th ranked defense.

The Jaguars offense is full of potential. They have one of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL, Trevor Lawrence. They have a talented wide receiving core that includes Calvin Ridley and Christian Kirk. Jacksonville also has a top tier running back, Travis Etienne. So far this season that offense has not lived up to the talent. This is the perfect game for this offense to start playing at a high level. Houston is giving up 28 points per game so far this season.

Houston’s offense is led by rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud. Stroud is throwing to an unproven group of wide receivers while dealing with constant pressure from the opposing defensive line. He has been sacked 11 times so far this season. This is second most behind New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones. Jones has played in one more game than Stroud.

Jacksonville should be able to score against the Houston defense. While the Houston offense will most likely struggle against the Jaguars. Take Jacksonville -8.5!
