Diamondbacks place C Gabriel Moreno on Paternity List, recall Jose Herrera from Triple-A Reno

Ahead of their four-game series against the Mets, catcher Gabriel Moreno has been placed on the paternity list by the Diamondbacks.

In return, Arizona recalled Jose Herrera from Triple-A Reno.

Gabriel Moreno has been the Diamondbacks primary catcher; so far this season, he has played in 97 games for Arizona.

Now on the paternity list, Moreno is given three days of absence.

Meanwhile, Jose Herrera has been called up to help behind the plate.

Herrera has been moving around quite a bit this season between the major and minor leagues. Most recently, he was sent down just three days ago to play for the Aces.

But still, despite being called up, Arizona is starting newly acquired Seby Zavala on Monday. It will be Zavala’s first start with the D-backs.

The Diamondbacks are set to begin their four-game series against the Mets this afternoon; the first pitch is scheduled for 4:10.
