Continuing what seems to be an annual tradition, Stephen A. Smith didn’t mince words when discussing the Arizona Cardinals during this morning’s episode of First Take.

Stephen A. started off by passionately sharing his opinion that Kliff Kingsbury, due to his coaching background, or rather, lack thereof, should never have been appointed as the Cardinals’ head coach in the first place.

This sentiment is widely shared among both fans and analysts.

Following a brief but fervent rant about Kingsbury, Stephen A. redirected his attention toward the current coaching staff and roster of the Cardinals.

“When you look at some of the guys that they have available, the reality is there is no reason on earth to look at the Arizona Cardinals and think that they’re going to have a snowball’s chance in hell of being a respectable football team.”

Smith also expressed his displeasure with the Cardinals’ approach to this season, particularly in light of their recent roster maneuvers.

Whether it’s the choice to release DeAndre Hopkins or trade Isaiah Simmons for a 7th-round pick, there’s a prevailing sentiment that the Cardinals are essentially giving up on this season right from the start.

This assertion holds true even as Jonathan Gannon has consistently reassured fans that there are no intentions of tanking.

The Cardinals will enter this season as underdogs in every single game. They are also the last remaining team that has not named their Week One starting quarterback.
