Prior to his IL placement, Moreno had been esteemed as one of the premier defensive catchers in the National League. Moreover, the 23-year-old had maintained his consistency at the plate, boasting a .270 season batting average.
Conversely, veteran C Carson Kelly has fallen short of meeting expectations since joining the Diamondbacks in June. Kelly’s introduction to the season was marred by an injury that caused him to miss the initial third of the games.
This year, Kelly has recorded a .226 batting average along with a notably low .226 on-base percentage.
The first pitch for the Diamondbacks’ season finale against the Padres is scheduled for 1:10 PM. A win would secure Arizona’s first series victory since early July.
