Suns Looking to Bring Back Some Familiar Faces

The new CBA could prove to work against teams like the Phoenix Suns, but they seem to have some backup plans.

With the current roster having a lot of gaping holes, the Suns have tendered qualifying offers to both center Jock Landale and guard Saben Lee, per Spotrac’s Keith Smith.

Landale had an up-and-down showing last season. Much is expected when competing for reserve minutes along with Bismack Biyombo. Still Landale, showed promise of being a capable big behind Ayton and was fairly impressive during the playoffs.

Landale averaged 6.6 points and 4.1 rebounds through 69 games for the Suns last season. He shot 52 percent from the field during the season which increased to 63 percent during the playoffs.

Landale, 27, could field interest from a number of teams in need of depth off the bench. Even so, his best opportunity to land an even bigger payday next summer could through playing with Phoenix.

With Biyombo likely out, Landale could see an increase in playing time and opportunity behind Ayton.

The same could be said for Lee. The 6’2” guard saw limited playing time behind Chris Paul, Landry Shamet and others. Still, Lee showed flashes off being a quality reserve guard given the chance.

Lee was able to prove as much during the final game of the regular season against the Los Angeles Clippers. He scored 25 points while dishing out 10 assists.

Even if the Suns were to bring in another veteran guard to help stack the depth, Lee has proven his ability to play through stretches where starters may not be available due to injuries.
