Diamondbacks conclude homestand with a blowout loss

Spread the love

The Arizona Diamondbacks ended their homestand with a disappointing blowout loss to the Cleveland Guardians.

With a chance of a sweep on the line, Zach Davies could not even make it out of the 4th inning after he allowed eight earned runs on nine hits. It was the second straight appearance for Davies that resulted in a blowout loss for the snakes.

It has been a rough stretch for Davies.

In front of 45 thousand fans, the Diamondbacks 5th largest crowd on the season, Cleveland got the bats hot early. By the third inning, the Guardians already had a 5-1 lead thanks to three extra-base hits and a pair of singles.

But that would just be the beginning, as the Guardians would add on a whopping six runs in the fourth inning, ultimately putting the game out of reach.

The loss put the Diamondbacks at a 3-4 record on the homestand. Next up is a seven-game road stretch starting against the Brewers on Monday.

Arizona will enter this series with a 3.5-game lead over the San Francisco Giants for first place in the National League West.
