More good news for Suns fans as Kevin Young could still remain in the top assistant role next season with Frank Vogel. Even after being a finalist for the head coaching gig, Young might decide to stay on staff with the team according to 98.7 John Gambadoro.
Vogel has been my choice the last week. The Suns liked that he is a Championship Coach and Defensive guru. There is a good chance Kevin Young will stay on as a top assistant – seems like it is his choice from what I have heard.

This move keeps a good offensive-minded coach on their team to match up with one of the best defensive-minded coaches in the league together. The offensive philosophy for the Suns won’t change a lot but the defensive adjustments will be night and day.
Keeping Kevin Young on the Suns staff after A) Monty Williams got a HC job elsewhere and will probably be recruiting soon and B) Young was seriously considered for the main gig and didn't get it would be huge

Rumor has it that Suns star player Devin Booker wanted Young to become the next head coach before Mat Ishbia pivoted in another direction. With Young possibly staying as a top assistant, the Suns could be getting the best of both worlds in terms of a defensive upgrade while also keeping their top offensive guru.
I’m taking the L. Was Kevin Young for a couple weeks, then Ishbia decided he wanted someone splashier and more experienced and shifted gears. What’s interesting is Booker was pushing hard for KY. But Vogel is an excellent coach. Can’t wait to find out what happened. https://t.co/l38s4UwOAb

There hasn’t been a report that has made it official yet, but all sides seem confident that Young will be back in Phoenix in some capacity to help the team get back to an NBA championship.
