Paul finished last season with a groin injury he suffered in Game 2 of the Suns vs Nuggets series of the western conference semi-finals. Sources told Haynes that if the Suns have forced a game 7, Paul would have been cleared to play.
Paul is going to be going into the 19th season of his career and will be playing in his fourth season with the Suns. Going into next season, Paul is guaranteed only $15.8 million of his $30.8 million wage if he were to be waved by the June 28th deadline.
It’s still not set in stone whether or not Paul will return to the team as they could still opt to trade him even after their financial decision. However, it’s most likely that Paul will be returning for his 5th season with the Suns.
