According to ESPN article just published, the Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo stated, “I don’t know” when asked about Madison Bumgarner‘s future with the team.

After yesterday, Bumgarner is now 0-3 with an ERA above 10. Also looking deeper into the stats, Bumgarner is responsible for 37% of the Diamondbacks losses thus far in 2023.
Stats like this, this early in the season are unfair, yes. However numbers do not lie, even though this day and age of data you can find numbers to back up any argument.
Torey Lovullo on Bumgarner
Wednesday Lovullo stated that “it’s very tough, the empathetic side of me hurts for him, and I want every pitcher to do well and I know how hard he’s working. He’s just grinding.”
He continued, “the other side of me is extremely frustrated. I just want to see everybody do well to help us win baseball games, and of course that didn’t happen today.”
Sometimes the proof is in the pudding, there is no denying the greatness of Bumgarner’s MLB career. However, there is also no denying the blunt facts that are his stats in a D-Backs uniform.
He is holding a 15-32 record, an ERA of 5.23 over his 69 starts with Arizona. Leaving Lovullo with the statement, “I don’t know” when asked about Bumgarner’s future with the team.
