The New England Patriots have reportedly reached out to the Arizona Cardinals in hopes of working out a trade involving 5-time Pro Bowl wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, per NFL insider Jeff Howe.

It has been no secret that the Cardinals are open to trade discussions, and for the Patriots, well, they are in desperate need of a wide receiver.

As of now, New England has DeVante Parker as their wide receiver number one, Parker averaged just 45 yards per game last year. But behind Parker are Tyquan Thornton and Kendrick Bourne, neither of whom averaged more than 30 yards per game last season.

It has been a slow fall downhill for the Patriots ever since the departure of Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady. New England has now missed the playoffs in two of their last four seasons, something that has not happened since 2000.

But whether DeAndre Hopkins wants to be any part of that sinking ship is an entirely different question.

As of late, Hopkins has seemingly made it clear that he has had his eyes focused on the Dallas Cowboys.

First, it was hanging out with former Cowboys’ WR Dez Bryant, and now, it is exchanging some tweets with Cowboys OLB Micah Parsons.

The chances of Hopkins returning in a Cardinals uniform next season are extremely slim. Most likely, Arizona is in the process of figuring out Hopkins value so that they can receive some talent on the defensive side of the ball.
