Not only did the Cardinals miss their chances with Hall of Fame coach Sean Payton, but DeMeco Ryans is now off the table as well.
Both coaches interviewed with Arizona over the past few weeks. However, as Cardinals QB Kyler Murray is not expected to return until the midway point of next season, it would have been a risky move to take a chance on Arizona.
For Ryans, he played for the Texans from 2006-2011. Additionally, Houston already has two first-round draft picks locked up (#2, #12), making them just a bit more attractive.
Houston will most likely land their potential franchise quarterback with their second overall pick, which can be followed by a stellar defensive player or more depth in the WR core.
Now, it is the Cardinals and the Indianapolis Colts who are still without a coach.
And for Arizona, the clear favorite has now become Brian Flores, the former Dolphins HC.
