Well, that does it for the Sean Payton head coaching cycle as he is set to become the new head coach for the Denver Broncos in exchange for a 2023 1st round pick and a 2024 second-round pick in return for the New Orleans Saints according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.
The #Saints and #Broncos just finalized the deal on compensation and sources say New Orleans gets a first-rounder and an early pick — likely a 2nd rounder — but also give a pick back. Complex deal but now done. Sean Payton will be the #Broncos coach.

This puts the Cardinals out of the running for Payton as they look elsewhere for another football coach. The Broncos had no choice but to make a splash hire given the circumstances of what they gave up to get Russell Wilson a season ago.
With that, they give up more pick acquisitions to give Russell Wilson the right play caller that can best utilize his skill set. Payton has been out of coaching for a year now as he took a year off after his stint with the Saints to join Fox Sports as a sports analyst.
Now with Payton out as an option, the Cardinals will be looking elsewhere for their next head coach as they have already set an interview with Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo for Thursday as well as an interview with Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka in the coming days as well.
Just a few moments ago as well, another hot coaching candidate in Demeco Ryans signed with the Houston Texans to be their next head football coach. He signed a 6-year deal and he returns to a team that he started his career with.
The Cardinal’s offseason is about to be one crazy ride and it started today with the news of Sean Payton and Demeco Ryans going somewhere else.
