Thursday night will kick off a 4 game series against division foe San Diego Padres. This series gives the Arizona Diamondbacks another chance to play spoiler. Here is the Arizona Diamondbacks weekend preview.
Arizona Diamondbacks to play Spoiler
The Arizona Diamondbacks are out of the playoff race, however the Padres have only a 2 game lead on the Brewers for the last wildcard spot.
Diamondbacks fans would love nothing more than to take this series and possibly be the reason their division mate Padres miss the playoffs.
The Padres have been disappointing this year in their own right, playing below expectations. Oh yeah, and their best player missed the entire season with an injury and steroid suspension.
Weekend Preview: Starters:
Thursday, Drey Jameson will make his major league debut for the Diamondbacks on the mound. Hopefully he can get through 4 or 5 innings in his first action in the majors. He will pitch against Sean Manaea (7-8, 5.23 ERA through 26 starts).
Friday night will be a clash of two veterans, both of whom have been solid their entire career. Madison Bumgarner (6-14, 4.88 ERA) will face Blake Snell (6-9, 4.02 ERA).
Saturday night will we will see a pitching clinic on both sides as Cy Young contender Zac Gallen (12-2, 2.50 ERA) takes the bump. On the other side will be Joe Musgrove (9-7, 3.28 ERA).
To wrap up the series rookie Ryne Nelson (1-0, 0.00 ERA) will make his 3rd start ever in the big leagues. He will face ace Yu Darvish (14-7, 3.16 ERA)
