PHOENIX — The Suns didn’t just get Kevin Durant’s talents in this summer’s wild three-team deal. They also landed one of the NBA’s most polarizing defenders, Dillon Brooks.

The 29-year-old is one of the premier perimeter defenders in the NBA and has grown into a nearly 40% 3-point shooter. Brooks is a winning player that his shenanigans on the court might overshadowed that fact. His fiery personality will be welcome sight for fans across the Valley, as Brooks seems ready to go next season.

In a in-game interview during a CEBL game, sideline reporter Esfandiar Baraheni talked with the newest Suns forward about his ties to Canada, where he found out about the trade and what’s next for him next season.

Full interview with newest Suns Dillon Brooks:

“I was at a spa…I was having a relaxful time. The trade happen and I was happy, being in a place I’m familiar with. [It’s] another young team that is trying to get back to the playoffs [and] that’s why they trade for me.”

Brooks has been a part of other young and up-and-coming teams in the past. In 2017, he was drafted 45th overall to the Memphis Grizzlies and was a part of that young squad that worked their way up from the 14th seed to the 2nd seed in 2022 and 2023.

Brooks signed with Houston two years ago, when the franchise was the 14th seed. However, similar to the Grizzlies, the Rockets had a massive turn around with Brooks arrival, climbing the ranks to the 2nd see this past season with Canadian forward being a massive reason why for the success.

Brooks aim to do it again with a Suns squad that was the 11th seed and coming off a depressing season last year. The 6’6 wing is a culture shifter and is primed to do it again in the Valley, alongside superstar Devin Booker and new head coach Jordan Ott.
