PHOENIX – Phoenix Suns general manager Brian Gregory looks to be letting go of one of the team’s two-way players from last year in Jalen Bridges. The Athletic’s Jay King reported that Bridges signed with the Boston Celtics Summer League team, that looks to bein play next week in Las Vegas. The 6’8 forward was an undrafted free agent when he signed with Phoenix and never was able to develop into a bigger role.

King on Suns rookie signing with Celtics:

“Jalen Bridges has been added to the Celtics summer league roster, I’ve been told, and will be going to camp with the team in the fall with a chance to make the roster. He played for Phoenix on a two-way contract as a rookie.”

Bridges had a four-year college career, playing at West Virginia and Baylor. In his senior season with the Bears, Bridges averaged 12.2 points and 5.7 rebounds on 41.2% from the 3-point line. His wide frame made him an interesting prospect for the Suns, as he provided some much needed length for the franchise.

However, the 24-year-old only appeared in eight NBA games and recorded 1.1 points per game. In the G-League, Bridges showed potential, averaging 14.3 points and 5.8 rebounds on 38.4% from beyond the arc. Regardless, Bridges might reached his peak in the G-League, as a genre of player just below NBA-level ready.

Gregory seemingly replaced Bridges with App State’s CJ Huntly, who the team signed to a two-way after the 2025 NBA draft. Huntly carries much of the same characteristics as Bridges, lengthy and versatility scorer from the perimeter. While Bridges didn’t leave an impact, Gregory is high that Huntley could be an upgrade if developed correctly.
