Kevin Durant over Steph and Jokic? Danny Green says yes, fans are split

Kevin Durant - Danny Green

PHOENIX — Former NBA champion Danny Green lit up the basketball discourse this week, claiming Kevin Durant ranks higher all-time than both Stephen Curry and Nikola Jokic — a hot take that reignited one of the league’s most debated topics.

“We’re never going to see a better scorer than him at 7 feet,” Green said, praising Durant’s unmatched offensive skill set and versatility. The remark has since gone viral, fueling arguments across sports shows and social media platforms.

While Durant’s offensive brilliance is widely acknowledged — a career average of 27.2 points per game, two NBA titles, an MVP, and four scoring titles — many fans and analysts are pushing back. Critics point to Curry’s revolutionary impact on the game, along with his four championships, two MVPs (including the NBA’s only unanimous MVP), and his success with and without Durant.

Curry’s legacy has only grown since Durant’s departure from Golden State, as he’s continued to keep the Warriors competitive and added a fourth ring in 2022. Durant, meanwhile, has struggled to replicate that level of team success in Brooklyn and now Phoenix.

Then there’s Jokic — a two-time MVP and reigning NBA champion — whose all-around dominance and playmaking from the center position has carved out a unique place in NBA history. Though younger and earlier in his career than Curry and Durant, many believe Jokic could ultimately surpass both.

Green’s comment, though controversial, underscores the evolving nature of legacy debates in the NBA. As the playoffs approach and stars continue to shape their careers, rankings will remain fluid — and opinions just as fiery.

Whether Durant ranks above Curry or Jokic is subjective. But one thing is certain: the conversation is far from over.
