Much like his fans, Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant is excited for the acquisition of seven-foot center Nick Richards from the Charlotte Hornets.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!“He’s a strong presence in the paint,” Durant told Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic. “A big body that can wreak havoc down there and cause some problems with his rim protection. Getting his hands on the basketball on the offensive glass and then finishing above the rim. It’s something we all have to get better at as a group. Hopefully he leads us in that area. Just controlling the paint.”
Of course, trading for Richards came at a cost — Josh Okogie and three second-round picks. Okogie was a fan favorite praised for his gritty play and hustle. A playstyle in which Durant also appreciated.
Durant added: “I really appreciated how Josh approached the game and his love for his teammates. I wish him the best. I’m sure we’ll cross paths again. He’s a great teammate, but I’m looking forward to having Nick on the team.”
With Richards out against the Washington Wizards Thursday evening, Durant and fans may have to wait until Saturday to watch the new-look Suns.
