Arizona State Football has lost another Valley native to the transfer portal.

Martin is entering the portal for the second time in his career, leaving Oregon for Arizona State at the start of the calendar year. He is 12th Sun Devil to enter the portal since the winter transfer window opened.
Martin had a pivotal role in the beginning of the season, listed as the team’s second string nickel back; however, after two games, the sophomore was sidelined with a hip injury, ending his one and only season at Arizona State.
The announcement comes one day after his father, Demetrice, was hired as UCLA’s pass game coordinator and secondary coach. His father was Oregon’s pass game coordinator and secondary coach for Martin’s single-year as a Duck before leaving for Michigan State to take over the Spartans’ secondary this season.

ASU was a familiar territory for the former Arizona high school football standout. Martin was the No. 4 player in the state in the Class of 2023, lining up at corner back for Basha High School (Chandler), where he led the Bears to an Open Division state title his senior year.
The defensive back was ranked as the No. 241 overall high school recruit in his class before signing to the Ducks. At Oregon, Martin recorded 21 tackles and interception. He only recorded four tackles for the Sun Devils this season.
Martin is expected to follow his dad to UCLA.
