Right on the brink of clinching a bowl game this year, the winning mentality is back in the program. Players are competing for each and every teammate, listening to everything that the coaching staff has to say, practicing hard and executing on the field when its a gameday.

But before there is any chance of complacency settling in after the thrilling 27-19 win over Utah, Sun Devil head coach Kenny Dillingham brought in a guest speaker who knows a thing or two about success in the Valley, Phoenix Suns legend Steve Nash.

Nash, a two-time NBA MVP and eight-time All-Star, talked to ASU on Monday about how winning is not easy and the work that they do at practice or in training should be priortized over results of games.

“Do not worry about the outcome, the outcome is winning. Do not care about winning, winning takes care of itself. The process is what wins,” Nash said. “So if you are feeling a little bit of pressure, you are feeling a little bit of, ‘How do we stay winning?’ Throw all that away. What do I have to do right now, today? How can I give the best day I can give it?”

He went on to preach about establishing a growth mindset where someone wants to get better every day and striving to achieve goals because that brings out happiness and success.
