PHOENIX – Assembling one of the NBA’s most intriguing starting lineups, the Phoenix Suns’ projected lineup featuring Devin Booker, Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, Miles Bridges and Mark Williams will offer athleticism, scoring, defensive versatility, and youth. On paper, it’s easy to envision this group becoming one of the Western Conference’s toughest matchups. Yet one question surrounds the starting lineup: will Booker or Green be the true point guard running the offense, and will it work? If it doesn’t, will Green be on his way out for one?

That’s why Jalen Green has become the center of trade speculation. Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints recently suggested Phoenix appears to be positioning itself for another major move after expanding its draft flexibility, leading to questions about Green’s long-term future. At the same time, Suns insider Flex From Jersey reported the organization isn’t shopping Green and fully expects him to be on the opening-night roster. Those reports reflect the reality of today’s NBA.

Green can simultaneously be part of Phoenix’s immediate plans while also representing its most valuable trade asset. Teams rarely advertise that they’re shopping talented young players, especially when those players still possess star-level upside. The Suns shouldn’t trade Green simply to acquire a point guard. But if an All-Star-caliber floor general unexpectedly becomes available, Green’s age, contract and scoring potential could become the centerpiece of a blockbuster. Championship windows demand difficult choices. Phoenix’s biggest decision may not be whether Jalen Green fits today; it may be whether keeping him ultimately gives the Suns their best chance to win tomorrow.
