GLENDALE – During his appearance on the “In the Bayou” podcast hosted by Tryann Mathieu, Hall of Famer Larry Fitzgerald detailed a touching story of Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. helping his son. When asked about his relationship and opinion of the 23-year-old, the 11-time Pro Bowler gushed about his character. Fitzgerald talked about his son, Devon, going up to Harrison and asking for some quick advice. Harrison would sit for with for the next 45 minutes.

During the same interview, the former All-Pro discussed that 2026 is a massive year for Harrison. Many current NFL star wide receivers got their big breakout during their junior season. For Fitzgerald, it was his second year when he jumped from 780 receiving yards to 1,409 and 103 catches to lead the league. The former fourth overall pick seems far away from that type of production, only having 1,493 yards in his first 29 career games.

Fitzgerald did detail a scenario with a new system coming in with head coach Mike LaFleur could be the answer. He discussed how he’s constantly hearing people within the franchise promptly telling how hard Harrison is working in the gym and on the field to reach those hefty pre-draft expectations.
The heartwarming story of his son and Harrison makes Fitzgerald a fan for life. But, that alone isn’t the only reason he believes in the young wideout, as he sees the work outside of the game and just needs to see it put into live in-game reps.
