GLENDALE – The biggest surprise this preseason has been the arrival of Zonovan “Bam” Knight. The 24-year-old signed a reserve/future contract with the team in January. Knight hasn’t recorded an official snap for Arizona until this preseason cycle, which has been sensational. In the preseason opener against the Kansas City Chiefs, Knight appeared late in the 4th quarter to record 47 yards on one drive and lead the team in rushing.

He continued rolling in Saturday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders with a 67-yard touchdown run to give the Cardinals the 17-10 lead and eventually the win.

Knight massive 67-yard TD to give Cardinals lead:

The running back position is a tightly contested one with the clear RB1 and 2 being James Conner and Trey Benson. The spot behind those two have been fought between Michael Carter and Emari Demercado, who have both been with the team for a couple of seasons. DeeJay Dallas has also thrown his hat in the ring, being the team’s kickoff returner.

However, Knight’s elusiveness, and Dallas’ lackluster preseason, might’ve open a door at the minimum as the team’s punt or kick return. His breakaway speed is impressive and carries enough weight at his 210-pound frame to handle contact down the field.

In 12 preseason carries, Knight has recorded 138 rushing yards. If he isn’t signed to Arizona’s 53-man roster, it wouldn’t be surprising if a team swoops in to sign him themselves.
