Eugenio Suárez was injured by Shane Smith back in late June, which caused Suárez to miss some time. When he was hit by a pitch again in the All-Star game by Smith, it immediately brought back memories of a series filled with injuries against the Chicago White Sox. Suárez was hit on his left hand, and immediately dropped the bat and went down to a knee in pain. With a look of frustration on his face, Suárez was checked on by the National League staff, though he stayed in the game. He fought through the pain as he made an incredible grab in the bottom of the ninth inning to rob Maikel Garcia of a hit.

Eugenio Suarez fights through the pain and receives MRI:
The National League was unable to hold onto the lead, and the 2025 MLB All-Star Game ended in their first-ever, “Swing-Off Competition”, which would include three members of each team in a home run derby. Suárez was able to get an MRI and USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reported that the x-rays were negative. Suárez was initially one of the three contestants that was supposed to go in the home run derby, although he opted out to avoid any injuries.
The All-Star Game will be decided by a Home Run Derby. The participants:
American League: Jonathan Aranda, Randy Arozarena, Brent Rooker.
National League: Pete Alonso, Eugenio Suarez, Kyle Schwarber.
Each batter will get three swings. The team with the most home runs wins.

Suárez, who has been the center of trade rumors recently, seemingly avoided any serious injury which was great news for the Arizona Diamondbacks after they have had a season riddled with injuries. Arizona will have a few days of rest before they look to right the ship before the trade deadline.
