Team Mexico announced Friday that outfielder Alek Thomas will be joining the roster, marking his second appearance in the event. Thomas previously played for Team Mexico in 2023, when the club advanced to the semifinals before falling to Team Japan.
Thomas’ addition is another example of Arizona’s strong presence in a tournament that has become a showcase of national and cultural pride.

One of the Diamondbacks’ top defensive outfielders, Thomas brings Gold Glove-caliber defense that will help anchor Mexico’s outfield. Seattle Mariners star Randy Arozarena has already committed to the team, and Boston Red Sox All-Star Jarren Duran is also expected to handle outfield duties.
Team Mexico is shaping its outfield around fast and electrifying talent.
With Thomas donning different colors this March, other Diamondbacks set to appear in the Classic include Corbin Carroll for Team USA; Geraldo Perdomo and Ketel Marte for the Dominican Republic; Eduardo Rodriguez for Venezuela; and Nolan Arenado for Puerto Rico.
