IRVINE — Phoenix Rising are on the road again, getting back into USL Championship action against the Orange County SC on Wednesday evening.

Rising’s last match was on July 19, when they faced off against El Paso Locomotive FC in the USL Jägermeister Cup. Although Phoenix took an early 1-0 lead in the 6th minute, El Paso equalized the match six minutes later. The Locomotive eventually took their first lead before halftime.
El Paso led until the last 10 minutes of regulation, when Phoenix was able to get a goal to tie it up once again. The clubs went into penalty shootouts, with Phoenix making seven and the Locomotive making six.

Phoenix finished second in Group Two of the tournament with seven points.

Orange County defeated the Oakland Roots FC, 1-0, in Jägermeister Cup action. Orange County put out one of its youngest teams in the club’s history and was able to keep Oakland scoreless. The only goal of the match came at the 30th minute by Orange County’s Bryce Jamison.
The win marked the end of Oakland’s run in the tournament.
Orange County finished fourth in Group One with six points.
