PHOENIX – Former four-time All-Star DeMarcus Cousins reported that the Phoenix Suns had “multiple fist fights” this past season. Cousins states that a player told him this information, but that answer wasn’t good enough for 15-time All-Star Kevin Durant. The 36-year-old took to X to respond and deny the allegations, while dismissing Cousins report altogether as the team never came close to trading blows.

Durant’s posts responding to DeMarcus Cousins’ report:
Durant isn’t shy to call out fake reports and Friday’s exchange on X was no different. The trio of Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal are all notoriously considered non-confrontational people, and the same can be said for the rest of the roster. A report of grown adults having fist fights in the locker room like out on the school yard is a far fetched allegation.

Phoenix had a rough 2024-2025 season, missing the playoffs at an embarrassing 36-46 record. However, Booker and Beal have endured similar rough stretches earlier in their career and likely understand how to compartmentalize those feelings when off the court in a non-violent matter.
Players fighting behind the scene isn’t anything new, with Draymond Green famously punching Jordan Poole in 2022 and Bobby Portis giving Nikola Mirotic a concussion in 2017. However, the Suns doesn’t have a player on the roster as emotional or aggressive as Green and Portis, making the claim less believable.

Durant is likely gone within the week, with the Suns gaging offers from around the league. Despite his expected departure, the former MVP is still defending his teammates from a false report that would defame the roster.
