SAN FRANCISCO – It was too close for comfort on Wednesday for the D-Backs, but they pulled it out down the stretch, defeating the San Francisco Giants by a score of 8-7. Arizona took the series, winning two out of three games over their NL West divisional rival.

Shining stars:

Ketel Marte continued his comeback tour as he hit two home runs today at Oracle Park. Marte slammed his first homer 364 feet right as the game began. Later in the fourth inning, Marte had a no-doubter that helped give the D-Backs an 8-2 lead. If Marte can keep this up, this one two punch between him and Corbin Carroll could be the best in the league.

Eduardo Rodriguez had another average outing, he kept the D-Backs in the game but still cannot seem to find his rhythm. He gave up four earned runs on five hits in four innings pitched. Wednesday’s matchup came down to the final out yet again, turning it into another nail-biter. This D-Backs club seemingly cannot find an answer to their bullpen problems, and these issues are growing and very apparent.

Ryne Nelson pitched three innings and gave up two earned runs on three hits. Shelby Miller came in for the Snakes in the ninth inning and had 36 pitches, giving up two hits and one earned run. Miller kept his composure and struck out Mike Yastrzemski and was able to get Christian Koss to fly out to end the game.

Resting up:

The D-Backs were sure happy to get to the airport and head back to the desert with a series win. Arizona gets its first series win over a divisional opponent in the 2025 season. After playing 16 games in 16 days, the Diamondbacks will finally get some rest as they head back home to get ready for a three-game series against another NL West opponent, the Colorado Rockies.
