PHOENIX — In case fans needed a reminder: Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird are back tonight for another edition of The Bird & Taurasi Show during the NCAA Women’s Final Four.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The Phoenix Mercury made sure to get the word out again on social media, posting, “The takes will be hot, the jokes will be reckless, and the producers will be sweating.” The promo got plenty of love online, including a quick reply from new Mercury star Kahleah Copper: “the accuracy.”

This isn’t the first time the WNBA icons have hosted the alternate ESPN2 broadcast, which has quickly become a fan favorite for its unscripted banter, behind-the-scenes insight and unapologetic commentary. Taurasi and Bird’s chemistry, built over years of playing together on Team USA and competing in the WNBA, makes the show a unique and entertaining companion to the traditional game coverage.
The pair became known last year for their viral moments and wide-ranging conversations with celebrity guests, current players, and coaches. It’s basketball talk without the filter—raw, relaxed, and funny.
Taurasi, now retired after two decades with the Phoenix Mercury, brings a fiery edge to the commentary booth, while Bird balances things with her sharp breakdowns and deadpan delivery. Together, they’ve turned a one-off idea into a Final Four tradition.
Tonight’s doubleheader tips off with the first semifinal airing on ESPN, while The Bird & Taurasi Show will stream simultaneously on ESPN2. With both Taurasi and Bird now retired from the WNBA, the two legends have embraced their roles in the media spotlight—bringing their signature wit, experience, and unfiltered takes to every broadcast. This edition promises to bring the same energy fans have come to expect—and then some.
Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
