PHOENIX – The Suns suffered their worst loss of the season on Sunday night, and it couldn’t have come at a worse time. Phoenix is still battling for the final play-in spot and still has a chance at catching both Sacramento and Dallas.
But any chance they really had might have just went out the window.
The Suns were completely and utterly embarrassed on national television as the Rockets blew them out 148-109. Houston poured in 78 points in the first half (their 2nd most points in a half this season) while grabbing control of the game early. The worst part of the game was the lack of competitive spirit that Phoenix showed. Midway through the second quarter Dillon Brooks got into an altercation with Kevin Durant. Technical fouls were assessed to both teams. Normally following this type of situation, both teams would play inspired.
Instead, the Suns just rolled over.
The game was well in hand by halftime and matters only got worse with Durant sustained a lower leg injury and would have to leave the game. His status is now up in the air for Phoenix’s upcoming road trip.
