The Diamondbacks are looking to switch some things around, as Corbin Carroll will get his first day off of the season. Randal Grichuk will take over his spot in right field. Alek Thomas will also take over in center field for Jake McCarthy, looking to replicate his big day at the plate on Saturday. Garrett Hampson, who made the baserunning blunder last night that ultimately gave the Cubs the win, will start at second base over Geraldo Perdomo as well. Gabi Moreno will also have a rest day, and Jose Herrera will get the start in his place. You can find today’s lineup here:

Who is on the mound:

The Arizona Diamondbacks will be riding with their left handed pitcher, Eduardo Rodriguez today. Unfortunately, Rodriguez was sidelined with a shoulder injury in 2024 that kept him out until august. This is his second year of his 4-year deal with the Diamondbacks. When healthy, Rodriguez in 10 starts, had a 3-4 record with a 5.04 ERA. His lone start against Chicago, he has a 1.50 ERA with a 0-0 record.

The Chicago Cubs are relying on their left handed pitcher as well, Matthew Boyd. Boyd, coming over from the Cleveland Guardians, had a 2-2 record with a 2.72 ERA last season. He had Tommy John surgery last year, but came back to finish the season strong and pitched three games in the playoffs for Cleveland as well. He hasn’t done well in his career against Arizona, his record being 0-2 with a 6.55 ERA.

The Arizona Diamondbacks will look to tie the series up against the Chicago Cubs on Sunday, before their first road trip of the season.
