GLENDALE — The reigning IFL National champs made a statement in their first game of the season, defeating the Tucson Sugar Skulls on Sunday evening 28-56.
The Arizona Rattlers started the game off strong, scoring six on an interception by defensive back Ethan Caselberry 14 minutes into the first quarter. After defensive lineman James Nyamwaya blocked a Sugar Skull field goal attempt, the ball was turned over to the Rattlers. Taking advantage, they scored another six on a carry by running back Jamal Miles. The Rattlers would then score 21 more points in the second quarter, taking a dominant 13-35 lead at the half.
