PHOENIX—Recently, there has been notable tension and drama between the Phoenix Suns’ players and their head coach, Mike Budenholzer. Durant returned to the bench where Budenholzer stood, speaking with him. Budenholzer attempted to comfort Durant, who jerked his left arm away to create space.

There had been reports where Budenholzer told Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker to be less vocal in the locker room.

The Phoenix Suns are currently 11th in the standings with a 28-33 record and are close to missing the postseason for the first time since 2020. They are also trailing the LA Clippers at halftime, 65-49.

Rumors are circulating that the Suns may trade Kevin Durant during the offseason and focus on retooling around Booker, who has been with the franchise since he was drafted in 2015. Additionally, Phoenix could consider making a change at the head coach position, potentially firing its third head coach in three years.
