PHOENIX –As Arizona State men’s basketball enters its final seven-game stretch, it needs to start off with a win against TCU on Saturday. ASU has lost eight out of its last ten games, including four in a row. During this final stretch, the Horned Frogs are only one of two Big 12 teams that the Sun Devils play that are below the sixth seed.

If ASU wants to end its winless drought, it starts Saturday against the worst offensive team in the conference. The Horned Frogs have the worst scoring offense in the Big 12 because of their horrendous 3-point shooting. TCU averages 6.3 made 3s a game on 30.8%. Of ASU’s three wins in conference play, all were against teams in the bottom half of the conference in scoring offense (Colorado x2, West Virginia).
While they don’t shoot well from the perimeter, the Horned Frogs defend shots from beyond the arc better than anyone, tying the Sun Devils in opponent 3-point shooting at 30.9%. Regardless of TCU’s success, ASU is top five in 3-point percentage in the Big 12 and is coming off its best offensive performance of the year against Texas Tech.

Senior guards like Adam Miller and BJ Freeman have shot about 40% from beyond the arc and will the charge against an offensively inept Horned Frogs team. The road to the end of the season seems daunting for a Sun Devils team that hasn’t won in February. However, ASU’s best shot to ride out the storm is beating a TCU team that it outmatches offensively.
