Scoring more than a third of the Phoenix Suns’ points, Kevin Durant reacted to the offensive challenges and Jusuf Nurkić being involved in a serious altercation during a 98-89 loss to the Dallas Mavericks.
Durant had a game-high 35 points from 11-of-19 (57.9%) shooting from the field and going 3-for-4 (75%) from 3. As a team, Phoenix was 32-for-83 (38.6%) from the field and 13-for-35 (37.1%) from deep with only Royce O’Neale (14) and Bradley Beal (11) recording double-digit points.
Walking up and having a heated argument with Naji Marshall, Nurkić slapped Marshall before Marshall retaliated with a punch to Nurkić’s face and P.J. Washington shoved Nurkić to the ground right after. All three players were ejected.
Postgame, Durant spoke about how the Suns’ offensive woes outweighed how good the defense was, Nurkić’s situation, praising his former Brooklyn Nets teammate Kyrie Irving, wanting to build off this performance and more.
