In a summer where Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant became Team USA’s Olympic basketball all-time leading scorer, he played a key role alongside star teammate Devin Booker and NBA legends LeBron James and Stephen Curry en route to becoming the first male athlete to win four Olympic gold medals in a team sport at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

All won gold. But only one will be the 2024 USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year.

Durant averaged 13.8 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 22.2 minutes per game. His best game came in the Olympic group play opening game against Serbia after missing the USA Basketball Showcase with a calf injury. He made a splash against Nikola Jokic, scoring 21 points on 8-for-8 shooting from the field and 5-for-5 from three in just nine minutes. He became the first USA Basketball player in Olympic history to shoot 100% from deep on five or more attempts.
The four-time Olympic gold medalist and two-time NBA champion was named in the initial Team USA player pool in late January and officially named to the team on April, 17.
