Justin Ishbia is the founder and managing partner of a private equity called Shore Capital Partners based in Chicago. His net worth is near an estimated $5 billion, according to ESPN.
The prospect of a sale of the Twins originally came out in October when the current owners, the Pohlad family, were looking to sell the team for $1.5 billion or higher. Only the Steinbrenner family (New York Yankees) and Jerry Reinsdorf (Chicago White Sox) have owned an MLB team longer than the Pohlad family.
Not only is Justin Ishbia involved with the Mercury and Suns, but he also has a minority stake in Nashville Soccer Club, one of the newer franchises in Major League Soccer (MLS).
Mat Ishbia bought the Suns and Mercury for $4 billion in February 2023, with Justin a minority owner and alternate governor of both franchises.
The Twins are coming off of an 82-80 season in which they missed the playoffs for a third consecutive year.
