It seems the G League Valley Suns are going to have a lot of eyes on them on Thursday when they host the South Bay Lakers as Los Angeles Lakers rookie Bronny James is set to make his road G League debut in Phoenix.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!James, son of all-time NBA great LeBron James, had originally planned to only play in home G League games for South Bay and travel with the parent team on the road. However, multiple reports revealed Wednesday that the 20-year-old second-round pick would officially play in his first road game against the Phoenix Suns’ G League affiliate.

James has played in three of South Bay’s 12 total games, averaging 8.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists on 29.4/0.0/100 shooting splits in 26.3 minutes per game. He has also appeared in seven NBA games for the Lakers, averaging 0.6 points, 0.1 rebounds and 0.3 assists in 18 total (garbage time) minutes this season. The South Bay Lakers have a 4-8 record thus far this season.
While the initial report that James would only play in home contests garnered much attention, it is assumed that the 55th pick in this year’s draft could benefit from more reps with the G League Lakers. The young guard is coming off a career night against the San Diego Clippers where he scored 16 points, grabbed four rebounds and dished out two assists and posted a +8 plus-minus.
The Valley Suns, in their inaugural season, are atop the West division of the G League’s Tip-Off Tournament with an 8-3 record. They look to sustain their winning as they host James and the South Bay Lakers for their “El Valle” night in Mullet Arena in Tempe at 7 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN-plus, and Suns Live on Arizona’s Family Sports.
