The NBA has ruled that they missed a travel call on Julius Randle’s game-winner against the Phoenix Suns on Sunday, but correctly did not call an offensive foul.

According to the NBA’s last two-minute report, Randle “lifts his pivot foot prior to releasing his dribble” after receiving the inbounds pass with 2.7 seconds left.

Several fans thought Randle pushed off on Okogie prior to releasing the game-winning 3. The NBA says that the officials correctly did not blow the whistle.

“Randle (MIN) places his off-arm against Okogie (PHX) and releases from contact as he steps back into his shot attempt. Okogie is not dislodged from his defensive position as a result of illegal contact from Randle.”

Suns coach Mike Budenholzer shared his thoughts on the shot postgame.

“Good coverage, good switches. Credit to Randle,” Budenholzer said (via The Arizona Republic’s Duane Rankin). “He made a tough shot. That’s a push off earlier in the game. It’s not called a push off late. That can be frustrating. Consistency from the start of the game to end of game.

“It’s got to be the same, but Josh and the group executed and Randle hit a tough shot.”
