Arizona State continues to be one of the best stories in college football as the Sun Devils have put themselves in position to go to the Big 12 Championship game, despite being picked preseason to finish last in the conference. On Saturday the Sun Devils pulled out their biggest win of the year, taking down No. 16 Kansas State 24-14 to improve to 8-2 on the year. With two games now remaining in the regular season, ASU sits in a tie for 3rd place.
The Sun Devils still have BYU, one of the teams they are chasing, left on their schedule. Assuming ASU were to win out, they would at worst move into a tie for 2nd place in the conference. At that point, the tie breakers start to kick in, with a number of possibilities on the table. The easiest route for ASU to make it to Arlington then appears to be for them to win out, Iowa state to lose one of their remaining two games, and Colorado to win out. Most the tie breakers fall ASU’s way, unless Colorado were to lose a game, and come into the tie breaker mix situation as well.
