The Phoenix Suns did not get off to a good start in Summer League action, falling 90-73 to the Golden State Warriors in Las Vegas.

The Suns started Boo Buie III, Michael Devoe, David Roddy, Ryan Dunn and Oso Ighodaro against the Warriors, who had already played three summer league games in the California Classic earlier this week and won all three.

The game was close at the start, but Warriors blew it open by finishing the first quarter on 21-4 run. At the half, Golden State led 50-33, as the Suns only shot 27% as a team and 11.8% from 3.

Phoenix could never cut the lead back to single digits after the first quarter. The Suns finished the night shooting 23-of-69 (33.3%) from the floor and 6-of-32 (18.8%) from 3 and were outrebounded 46-33.

Overall, the Suns had a lot of good flashes defensively, but really struggled because of guard play offensively, as they had only 13 team assists to 19 turnovers. Phoenix did have 13 steals as a team and seven blocks.

Despite the score and really poor offensive numbers for Phoenix, the Summer League is a lot about individual performances.

With that said, here’s how the four players to watch in our Suns Summer League preview fared in their debut:

  1. Ryan Dunn: 6 PTS (3-7 FG, 0-3 3PT), 4 REB, 2 AST, 3 STL, 2 BLK, 4 TO in 26 MIN
  2. Oso Ighodaro: 6 PTS (3-8 FG), 5 REB, 2 BLK in 27 MIN
  3. David Roddy: 12 PTS (4-14 FG, 2-8 3PT), 7 REB, 2 BLK, 4 TO in 28 MIN
  4. Jalen Bridges: 5 PTS (2-4 FG, 1-3 3PT), 3 REB, 1 STL in 18 MIN

Devoe, who went undrafted in 2022 out of Georgia Tech and averaged 14.8 points in the G League for the Memphis Hustle and Salt Lake City Stars last season, led the Suns with 19 points (4-of-7 FG, 11-13 FT), four rebounds, four assists and two steals.

On the Warriors side, they were paced by Daeqwon Plowden, who had 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting.
