With the 40th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, the Phoenix Suns selected Oso Ighodaro, who attended Desert Vista High School in Ahwatukee, Arizona, before spending four years at Marquette.

Overall, three players who attended high school in Arizona were drafted in the 2024 NBA Draft. The others were Cody Williams from Perry High School, the 10th overall pick by the Utah Jazz, and DaRon Holmes from Millennium High School, who was drafted in the first round by the Nuggets.
Ighodaro will become the eighth Arizona-born player to play for the Suns, with the most recent being Saben Lee.
While playing at Desert Vista, Ighodaro led the team to a state championship in 2020. In the state championship game, held just 12 days before schools shut down due to COVID-19, he scored 32 points on 14-16 shooting, grabbed 11 rebounds, and recorded 10 blocks.
Desert Vista defeated Mountain Point 75-55 to finish off a 28-win season.
During his senior year at Marquette, Ighodaro averaged 13.8 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists while shooting 57.6% from the field.
