The Phoenix Mercury were in the midst of their best basketball of the season, going 4-1 from Friday, June 7 to Tuesday, June 18.

Phoenix was able to get into its offense against Minnesota, but a lack of execution held it back from making the game competitive.

Mercury head coach Nate Tibbetts discussed the team’s poor execution:
“A big thing offensively has been our half-court execution,” Tibbetts said when discussing points of emphasis. “We’ve got to do a better job of executing when times get tough.”
Defensively, Tibbetts wants to see his group guard the 3-point line with more urgency.
“Defensively, we have to do a better job of finding shooters, got to do a better job of guarding the 3-point line.”
As the Indiana Fever get set to take the trip to Phoenix on Sunday, Tibbetts discussed what he expects out of the home crowd as Caitlin Clark arrives.
“The crowd Sunday will have a certain feel to it, but I’ve just absolutely been amazed by our crowds through the first eight games at home,” said Tibbetts. “We’re getting almost a sell-out every night. There’ll be a different vibe on Sunday, but what the Phoenix people have done to come out and for the X-Factor to support us has been absolutely amazing.”
