The Phoenix Suns up-and-down season appears to be reaching its end, as the Suns are now down 3-0 to the Minnesota Timberwolves after losing 126-109 last night.

Fans are tired at this point and just confused on what exactly went wrong for this team that has Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal as its leaders.

This culminated into a chant about coach Frank Vogel, as a select group of fans began to chant “Fire Vogel” with around 9:37 to go in the fourth quarter when the Suns were down 21.

The chants continued as the final buzzer drew closer.

This comes one day after the Los Angeles Lakers experienced a similar phenomenon at home, as fans chanted “Fire Darvin” at their coach Darvin Ham. Ironically, Vogel was fired as the Lakers head coach on April 11, 2022, his last coaching job before joining the Suns.

Vogel was hired on June 2 after the Suns fired Monty Williams on May 13, one day after their Game 6 loss in the second round to the Denver Nuggets.

This was the first time fans got to see the Suns at home in the playoffs, but they continued their streak of blowout losses to start the postseason. No team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit (0-151).

With the Suns now on the brink of elimination with how talented their roster is, change seems inevitable. It might not come with Vogel, but owner Mat Ishbia and the Suns will likely have to change something heading into next season.

“We want this real bad, so it’s disappointing, it’s frustrating,” Vogel said postgame. “We’re all very invested in this. We’re pouring everything we have into trying to bring these fans a team they can be proud of, we feel like we can still do that but we haven’t played well enough in this series.”

Game 4 is on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. MST. The Suns will be looking to avoid their first series sweep since 1999, when the Blazers beat them 3-0 in a best-of-5 series. They haven’t been swept 4-0 since 1989 when the Lakers did so in the Western Conference Finals.
