Diamondbacks’ 2024 Season Attendance Soars Early On

Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Christian Walker (53) rounds the bases after hitting a three-run home run against New York Yankees pitcher Jake Cousins (54) during the seventh inning at Chase Field in Phoenix on April 2, 2024.

Through the first five games of the Diamondbacks’ 2024 season, Chase Field welcomed a total attendance of 171,056, averaging 34,211 fans per game.

This marks the highest attendance for Chase Field during the first five games of a season since 2004, ranking 3rd all-time behind the record attendance of 2004 and 1998.

Among the 18 MLB teams hosting home games, the D-backs rank 8th overall in average attendance, closely trailing the Astros and the Padres.

Compared to last year, when the Diamondbacks hosted an average of 24,000 fans per game, Chase Field is on pace to finish with nearly 10,000 more fans per home game.

This surge in attendance can be directly attributed to the Diamondbacks’ successful run to the World Series last year, followed by their offseason spending spree, which resulted in a franchise-record payroll.
