Hill’s success with Saguaro
Zak Hill spent just one season as the Sabercats’ head football coach and it was a successful one.
The team finished with a 9-5 record and defeated Red Mountain to be named 6A conference champions.

While many believed Saguaro’s run may have been coming to an end following their loss to Basha in the 2022 state championship, Hill came in and brought the team yet another trophy.
He will now take on an administrative role with the ALA – Gilbert North Eagles. Hill will undoubtedly be involved with the football team and attempt to bring the program similar success.
It is unclear whether this decision has anything to do with Saguaro’s controversy in December.

What the Eagles need
The Eagles finished last season with a 7-5 record and were knocked out in the quarterfinals of the 5A conference playoffs.
However, they now have an incredibly experienced football mind apart of the program.
After his football playing career ended following his graduation from Eastern Washington, Hill has helped several programs.
Included in these programs are Arizona State and Boise State, where he served as offensive coordinator/QBs coach. He resigned from ASU as a result of the NCAA’s investigation of the team.

He served as an assistant coach for the Eagles in 2022 and is now back with them. This could very well be the change that Gilbert North needs to turn the tide.
