The 49ers trailed in the second half of each playoff game but executed comebacks against all odds. In two games hosting the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions, Purdy has combined for 581 total yards and two touchdowns along with an interception.
He now possesses a 4-1 postseason record with the lone loss being in the 2023 NFC Championship game. However, Purdy suffered an injury taking him out of the game, which helped lead the Eagles to a victory.
Despite some inconsistencies, the second-year QB led touchdown drives sealing the deal in each of the last two games.
History in the making
The former Perry quarterback will now make a Super Bowl start against the Kansas City Chiefs in just his second NFL season.
Throughout history, only six QBs have started in a Super Bowl game during their first two seasons. Four of the six ended up winning the game. Those four are Tom Brady, Kurt Warner, Russell Wilson, and Ben Roethlisberger. Purdy will also be the third-youngest QB to start in a Super Bowl, behind only Roethlisberger and Brady.

The Arizona native would be in elite company with a victory in Super Bowl LVIII. Mr. Irrelevant can prove the world wrong and bring the 49ers their first Super Bowl win since the 1994 season.
