Several Arizona Natives remain in NFL Playoffs

With just four teams remaining in the NFL Playoffs, let’s look at some Arizona Natives who will be playing on Sunday.

Brock Purdy, Queen Creek

Brock Purdy will forever be remembered for his dominance at Perry High School and he has translated that to the NFL. Over the last two seasons with the Pumas, Purdy combined for 9,631 total yards and 115 touchdowns.

He has now led the San Francisco 49ers to their third straight NFC Championship appearance. While the team around him is incredible, the 24-year-old has been playing at a high level and has been named an MVP finalist.

Facing the Detroit Lions at home, a victory would give Purdy a shot to start at quarterback in Super Bowl LVIII during just his second NFL season.

Mark Andrews, Scottsdale

Mark Andrews is a Scottsdale native and Desert Mountain legend. In 32 high school games played with the Wolves, Andrews totaled 3674 receiving yards and 48 touchdowns.

Despite missing the last seven games due to injury, he will return on Sunday. In just nine full games played this season, the 28-year-old accounted for 544 receiving yards and six touchdowns.

With the Baltimore Ravens hosting the Kansas City Chiefs for a shot at a Super Bowl appearance, Andrews has returned at the perfect time. While he may be limited, Baltimore will look to utilize the star tight-end in crucial scenarios.

Isaiah Oliver, Phoenix

49ers’ defensive back Isaiah Oliver has started in six games for the team this season. He has also played a significant role on special teams for the Niners.

Oliver played two seasons for Brophy College Prep’s varsity team and was dominant on both sides of the ball. The 27-year-old now has an opportunity at a Super Bowl appearance in his first season with the team.
