And his support is only growing.

Battling through injuries, Booker has slowly gained the attention of analysts throughout the league, along with a few former players.

Recently, Hall of Famer Paul Pierce went as far as to say that “it’s time to start getting him [Devin Booker] in the MVP talks.”

Pierce also noted that the Suns do not need a point guard, as Booker has proved that he can fill that role for them.

Watch as Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce breakdown what has made D-Book so special this year:

On the topic of his playmaking, Booker is averaging a career high 8.2 assists per game this season, which ranks him 5th among all point guards.

He is also averaging a career high of 6.3 rebounds per game, which is 4th among all point guards.

Lastly, his 27.3 points per game place him 10th overall in the NBA.

If Booker manages to stay healthy over the next month or so, it would not be much of a shock if he does ascend in the MVP odds.
